    The Virtue of Night Prayer

    Fellow Muslims! The situation of Muslims today necessitates the talk about the most important act of worship in Islâm which is Salâh (prayer). The Messenger of Allâh resorted to it whenever he became distressed about an issue. Prayer is the water spring that never dries and the treasure that never ends.

    “And Worship your Lord until there comes unto you the Certainty”

    Fellow Muslims! Fear Allâh as He should be feared and be conscious of Him in private and public. Worship Him as if you see Him, and even though you do not see Him, He sees you

    Supplication

    Allâh tests his slaves with trials that drive them to supplicate to him and this is in itself a blessing. Total reliance on Allâh is the actual wealth, the essence of worship and the utmost goal. Supplication is the sign of worship and Allâh loves that his slaves should supplicate to him. Dear brother, be patient with whatever happens to you for with every difficulty is relief, and do not stop supplicating. Always praise your Lord and thank Him for all His mercies.

    Self Examination

    Friday Sermon given at the Holy Mosque in Makkah, Jumâdal-âkhirah 5, 1422AH: The examination of one’s conscience and calling oneself to account that is done by intelligent people has great benefits. Some of these benefits are that man will know his weaknesses and defects as well as his strengths, good deeds and points of perfection. This will afford him the opportunity of working towards a constructive plan and a better path to be followed in the future.

    The Night Prayer

    Many Qur'anic verses speak about the excellence of Qiyam and the merits of those people, who perform Qiyam al-Layl on a regular basis, for example, Allah describes the believers who deserve Jannah saying: “They (the believers) forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope; and they spend out of what We have bestowed on them.” [Surah as-Sajdah (32): 16] “They (the pious) used to sleep but little at night.” [Surah ath-Thariyat (51): 17]

    Hasad- Evil Eye and Envy

    This disease of the heart and the sin which is known as hasad was one of the first sins ever committed. It was one of the main things that drove Satan away from his Lord.
