A Muslim believes in his parents' rights upon him and his obligation to be good to them, obey them and to treat them in the best way. This is not just because they are the cause for his existence. It is also not just because they did a great deal of good to him that he must repay and respond to in a proper manner. But it is first and foremost because Allah the Almighty has made it obligatory upon him to obey them.
The hijab makes for greater purity for the hearts of believing men
and women because it screens against the desire of the heart.
Without the hijab, the heart may or may not desire. That is why the
heart is more pure when the sight is blocked (by hijab) and thus the
prevention of fitna (evil actions is very much manifested.
Young people are fertile and open ground for all that is introduced to them, either good or bad; and they readily accept whichever of the good or false ideologies, and excellent or bad morals that comes their way.[Medinah(Rabî'ul Awwal 29, 1424 (May 30, 2003)]
Brethren in faith! Joining the tie of kinship is one of the greatest responsibilities of man. The kith and kin are the ones with whom one has blood or marriage relationship. Allâh emphasises the importance of the kith and kin in many places in His Book. [Khutbah Medinah 19 Safar 1425 (9 April 2004)]
Now that women conceive to be in charge of their own affairs, does this mean that they have reached the pinnacle of gender equality? Has the "new woman" of today overcome the oppression and subjugation of the "bad old days"? Does the liberation of women signal the advent of a new, morally correct world? Has liberation achieved real emancipation and freed women from injustice? The clear answer is no!
Islam has achieved far more for women's emancipation and equality than what many of today's feminists realize. Judging Islam by their own secularized and often atheist standards, many members of the feminist's movement denounce the way of life chosen by Allah for woman and man, without knowing or deeply understanding what they are really criticizing.
When a person meditates upon the histories of past nations and populations, he will be instantly amazed at the revolutions and transformations they went through. For instance, there was a pioneering nation (i.e., the Muslim nation) which led the world for many centuries but then, it faltered and lost its leading role; it fell in the midst of blind imitation and followed the paths of other nations in terms of manners and beliefs. Once it was at the acme of development and reached the highest level of power and glory, but it later fell to the lowest point and was afflicted with misery.
Today - in sha Allâh - we would like to speak about TV and its dark side. It is not our intention to make you race home to throw the TV off the balcony - although that would be nice. It is our hope that you will leave today in sha Allâh with a better understanding of the destructive nature the TV has on a persons life and hereafter, not only his own, but also his family and children.
"One of the greatest blessings of Islâm is it's admirable success in
creating strong, warm, rich and durable bonds of love and brotherhood
between man. It is this blessing of love and brotherhood which is the
greatest source of sustenance and nourishment for man, but few of us can
honestly say that we have experienced true brotherhood."
